Forum in Amman on Revisionist Historians:

Invitation: You are cordially invited to attend a forum under the theme of 'What Happened to the Revisionist Historians Conference in Beirut?' The forum will take place on Sunday, April 8, 2001, at 6:30 in the evening, at the offices of the Jordanian Writers Association in Amman.

The speakers at the forum will be:

1. Hayat Atiyah, a Lebanese journalist specialized in European historical revisionism and a staunch secularist.
2. Arafat Hijjazi, a Jordanian journalist known for his anti-Zionist stances.
3. Ibrahim Alloush, editor of the Free Arab Voice (www.fav.net), and a member of the board of the Association against Zionism and Racism.

The moderator of the forum will be Dr. Hisham Ghassib, a university professor and the president of the Socialist Thought Forum.

Context: After the Lebanese government banned a conference for revisionist historians that was supposed to be held in Beirut on March 30, 2001, on the behest of the Zionist movement and Western governments, and after a highly suspicious statement calling for such a ban was allegedly signed by fourteen prominent Arab intellectuals, scores of writers and intellectuals across Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon moved to defend freedom of expression in the Arab World and to set the record straight on revisionist historians.

The forum is just the beginning of a series of activities in this regard that will hopefully culminate in a conference for revisionist historians in some Arab country. A petition denouncing the banning of the revisionist conference in Beirut, to be signed by Arab intellectuals, is in the works as well.

Dr. Ibrahim Alloush (<alloush@index.com.jo>), intellectuel jordanien du par notre amie MacKenzie Paine, a décidé, à la suite de l'annulation de la conférence de Beyrouth, d'organiser un forum à Amman sur le révisionnisme qui devrait se tenir demain dimanche. Voici ce qu'il écrivait hier:

(Invitation; Vous êtes cordialement invités à un forum ayant pour thème "Qu'est-il arriv" à la conférence des historiens révisionnistes de Beyrouth?" Le forum se tiendra le dimanche 8 avril 2001 " 18h 30 dans les locaux de l'Association des écrivains jordaniens à Amman. Les intervenants seront:

1. Hayat Atiyah, journaliste libanais spécialiste du révisionnisme historique européen, la•ciste loyal.
2. Arafat Hijjazi, journaliste jordanien connu pour ses prises de position antisionistes.
3. Ibrahim Alloush, rédacteur en chef de Free Arab Voice (www.fav.net) et membre du conseil d'administration de l'Association contre le sionisme et contre le racisme.

Le forum sera animé par le Dr. Hisham Ghassib, professeur d'université et président du Forum de la Pensée socialiste.

Thème: Après l'annulation par le gouvernement libanais, sur ordre du mouvement sioniste et des gouvernements occidentaux, d'une conférence d'historiens révisionnistes qui devait se tenir à Beyrouth le 30 mars 2001, et après la déclaration très sujette à caution prétendument signée de 14 éminents intellectuels arabes demandant cette annulation, un grand nombre d'auteurs et d'intellectuels de Jordanie, Syrie, Liban se sont manifestés pour défendre la liberté d'expression au sein du monde arabe et pour mettre les choses au clair sur la question des historiens révisionnistes. Ce forum est le premier d'une série sur ce thème et nous espérons qu'il aboutira à l'organisation d'une conférence des historiens révisionnistes dans un pays arabe. Une pétition dénonçant l'annulation de la conférence révisionniste de Beyrouth, qui sera signée d'intellectuels arabes, est en cours.
