Dozens Rally in Prague for Zundel's Freedom
Dozens of right-wing extremists rallied Friday in front of the German Embassy in Prague, demanding that Ernst Zundel be set free or tried quickly on charges of inciting racial hatred. Zundel was arrested in Germany in March after being deported from Canada. In July, he was charged with 14 counts of inciting racial hatred, for his decades of anti-Semitic activities, including repeatedly denying the Holocaust - a crime in Germany - in documents and on the Internet. Zundel is scheduled to go on trial at a state court in Mannheim, Germany, on Nov. 8. "We are here to support Ernst Zundel ... how long will he be in prison before he is either sentenced or released," one of the speakers said, declining to identify himself for fear of police persecution. "We are here to support a man for whom spreading the word of freedom is more than personal freedom."

Syria Is Next - 'We Have Been Warned'
Rep. Ron Paul
We have been warned. Prepare for a broader war in the Middle East, as plans are being laid for the next U.S. led regime change-- in Syria. A UN report on the death of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafig Hariri elicited this comment from a senior U.S. policy maker: “Out of tragedy comes an extraordinary strategic opportunity.” This statement reflects the continued neo-conservative, Machiavellian influence on our foreign policy. The “opportunity” refers to the long-held neo-conservative plan for regime change in Syria, similar to what was carried out in Iraq. This plan for remaking the Middle East has been around for a long time. Just as 9/11 served the interests of those who longed for changes in Iraq, the sensationalism surrounding Hariri’s death is being used to advance plans to remove Assad.

Blair Begins Beating the War Drums
Mr Blair told an EU summit at Hampton Court, near London, that he had "never come across" comments like those made by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday. He added that Iran, suspected of having a nuclear weapons programme, could soon be considered a "real threat". BBC political editor Nick Robinson said Mr Blair's comments carried the "implicit threat of military action". "If they continue down this path, then people are going to believe that they are a real threat to our world security and stability. "They may believe... the eyes of the world will be elsewhere, but I felt a real sense of revulsion at those remarks." Mr Blair added: "Can you imagine a state like that with an attitude like that having a nuclear weapon?" The BBC's Nick Robinson said: "I haven't heard the prime minister speak in this way since the Iraq war."

'My Name Is Rachel Corrie' - Acclaim For A London Play
Michael Billington
Political theatre takes many forms. It can be an engrossing judicial inquiry like Bloody Sunday. It can be a family saga like Wesker's Chicken Soup With Barley. Or it can be a deeply moving personal testimony like this selection from the writings of Rachel Corrie, edited by Alan Rickman and Katharine Viner, editor of Guardian Weekend Magazine, and performed by Megan Dodds. In the course of 90 minutes you feel you have not just had a night at the theatre: you have encountered an extraordinary woman. Most readers will know the bare facts about Rachel Corrie: that she was a 23-year-old American who went to aid Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and in March 2003 was killed by an Israeli bulldozer. But what comes as a shock is realising that she combined an activist's passion with an artist's sensibility.

US Diplomat Says Neocon Ideology Behind US Iraq Policy
A veteran US diplomat who served as a government adviser in Iraq says US policy in the country at the initial stage of the occupation was driven by neoconservative ideology rather than careful preparation and clear understanding of issues. Ambassador Robin Raphel, who has been with the foreign service since 1977 and once served as assistant secretary of state, delivered her unusually candid remarks in a July 2004 interview for a relatively obscure history program at the US Institute of Peace. It has remained unnoticed until now, when increasing numbers of Americans began to question the Bush administration's involvement in Iraq. Raphel, who served as a trade adviser to the Iraqi government from April to August 2003, took particular issue with decisions by then administrator Paul Bremer to launch debaathification of the country and disband Saddam Hussein's military.

Children To Plant Flowers In Memory of 'Holocaust'
One hundred bulbs are being distributed to each of the 49 primary schools in the county and children from forms five to seven are being encouraged to plant the bulbs which represent the Star of David which Jewish people were forced to wear under Nazi rule. If planted in early November the bulbs will be in bloom at the end of January, coinciding with Holocaust Memorial Day which Fermanagh District Council has been selected to lead the province in commemorating next year. The commemoration in Sunday January 22, is being organised by the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister, in co-operation with representatives of the Jewish Community, the council and other interested groups. Robert Sugar, the creator of the exhibition, was evacuated from Berlin as a child and will talk of his experiences being a Kindertransportee.

Germar Rudolf's Detention
Art Butz
On Oct. 19 Germar and his wife had a marriage interview at the Chicago office of the INS (Immigration and Naturalization Service). It went well and ended with the INS certifying that their marriage was real. As they were about to leave two officers of the INS appeared and claimed that Germar had been sent a letter instructing him to appear at their Chicago office for photographing and fingerprinting, and that he had not complied. Neither Germar nor his lawyer received such a letter, and they have still not been shown a copy of it. The failure to appear would not in itself, however have brought any drastic action; in fact, the INS had had him photographed and fingerprinted long ago at the FBI office in Huntsville. What exacerbated the situation was that recently the German government had made its second request for his extradition and some clerk at the INS, assuming the matter involved a real criminal case, flagged his file. I commented that that is the charitable interpretation. In any case, Germar was detained and sent to a jail about 50 miles from Chicago.

Syria: The Next Iraq
Robert Dreyfuss
Three years ago, the U.S. invasion of Iraq was widely viewed as the first chapter of a region-wide strategy to remake the entire map of the Middle East. Following Iraq, Syria and Iran would be the next targets, after which the oil-rich states of the Arabian Gulf, including Saudi Arabia, would follow. It was a policy driven by neoconservatives in and outside of the Bush administration, and they didn’t exactly make an effort to keep it secret. In April, 2003, in an article in The American Prospect titled “Just the Beginning,” I wrote: “Those who think that U.S. armed forces can complete a tidy war in Iraq, without the battle spreading beyond Iraq's borders, are likely to be mistaken.” And the article quoted various neocon strategists to that effect:"I think we're going to be obliged to fight a regional war, whether we want to or not," says Michael Ledeen...

Who Is Stopping Them from Invading Iran?
Joshua Frank
If the Bush administration wants it, they'll get it. The threat of hurricanes and indictments isn't going to stop these crazy guys. Nor will the Democrats, France, or that fallible United Nations. Nope, nothing is going to step in their way. Even if what they want is war on Iran. Last week in London, US Ambassador John Bolton expressed his disappointment with the UN Security Council for their "failure" in dealing with Iran's alleged nuclear threat. Bolton all but threatened military action, deliberately implying that the US government would take matters into their own hands if the UN wouldn't. It may seem inconceivable that the US government would even be considering using military force against Iran at this point. US troops are already overextended and public opinion about the current war is at an all-time low.

Israelis To Be Called As AIPAC Witnesses
Nathan Guttman
Lawyers for the two former AIPAC staffers accused of communicating classified information, wish to call to the stand three Israeli diplomats who were in touch with the defendants. In a notice to court, filed Friday at the US District Court in Alexandria, Virginia, lawyers for Steve Rosen and Keith Wiessman, the former AIPAC employees who are now facing charges, declare their intention to summon the three Israelis to testify as witnesses for the defense. The three Israelis are not named, but sources close to the case have confirmed in the past that they are Naor Gilon, the former political officer in the Israeli embassy in Washington, Rafi Barak, the former Deputy Chief of Mission and a third Israeli who was not identified.

Reaching New People
Mark Weber
One of our greatest challenges is how to reach new people who normally hear only the standard, “politically correct” version of history and current affairs. It’s not enough to go after those who already agree with us. That’s why we work hard to reach people who’ve never before heard our message. We don’t just “preach to the choir.” Throughout the year, we’ve kept up a vigorous schedule of media work, including many radio and television interviews that routinely reach hundreds of thousands of new listeners and viewers on regular and short wave stations in the
US
and overseas, as well as through the internet. Articles, reviews and essays from the IHR website are regularly distributed through the internet to many thousands around the world, and are downloaded and printed out for reading and distribution to others. IHR items are often posted on other websites, and are regularly translated into foreign languages for even wider circulation.

Syria: Israel Turning US Against Us Via Zionist Lobby
Roee Nahmias
Damascus is willing to cooperate with any international organization interested in obtaining proof regarding the inaccuracy of U.S. allegations that Syria is interfering in Lebanese and Iraqi affairs, a Syrian source told the Qatar-based el-Watan newspaper. “Damascus’ relations with previous American administrations have been good, and it is the current administration that has created the crisis with Syria due to Israeli pressure, which is being applied in order to realize the goals and interests of the Zionist lobby,” the source said. He said the Bush administration has rejected a number of Syrian initiatives to hold constructive dialogue between the sides, so that an amicable solution to the current disagreements may be reached.

Rice Calls Iraq War Part of Post-9/11 Plan
Nicholas Kralev
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said yesterday that it was always the Bush administration's intent to redesign the Middle East after the September 11 attacks, which exposed a "deep malignancy growing" in the region, and that the Iraq war was part of that plan. Miss Rice, in her first testimony on Capitol Hill in eight months, refused to outline benchmarks for reducing the U.S. troop levels in Iraq. Instead, she offered a short-term strategy to stabilize the country, including the creation of civil-military teams in key provinces, but that plan was met with skepticism by both Republican and Democratic senators on the Foreign Relations Committee. " ... "We have to level with the American people," said Sen. George V. Voinovich, Ohio Republican. "This is another world war."
US 'Democritization Initiative in Middle East is Insincere
Mark Weber
The “Greater Middle East Initiative” (GMEI) is part of an ambitious U.S. effort by President George W. Bush and his administration to further U.S. and Israeli interests in the region. The thinking behind the GMEI is that if the governments of the region are more “democratic,” “open” and “free,” their populations will more readily accept US and Israeli policies. This initiative is based on two false assumptions. The first is that widespread distrust of and hostility toward the United States is based on ignorance, prejudice and misunderstanding. In fact, anti-American sentiment is an entirely understandable consequence of, and reaction to, destructive and inhumane U.S. policies in the Middle East, which for the past half-century have been subordinate to Israeli and Zionist interests.

Police Officers From Across Britain To Tour Auschwitz
Justin Cohen
Police officers from across Britain are set to join a delegation of sixth formers on a trip to Auschwitz next month organised the Holocaust Educational Trust. Officers from Barnet and Greater Manchester will be among those taking part in the trip, which will be preceded by a talk from a Shoah survivor. The event will be followed by a seminar offering aparticipants the opportunity to share their experiences. According to the Community Security Trust, which helped arrange the visit, this will be the first time so many local officers have been involved in such a trip. Inspector Nick Davies, from Barnet’s safer neighbourhoods team, said: “I can’t honestly say that I’m looking forward to the visit in that respect, but I think it is an important visit as far as Barnet officers are concerned because we have so many residents in this borough who have been affected by the Holocaust.

Jewish Settlers Sabotage Palestinian Olive Trees
Sa'id Ghalazi and Eric Silver
Mahfuz Abu al Nasr, a Palestinian farmer from the West Bank village of Salem, was grieving yesterday over the wreckage of his livelihood. Jewish settlers had come in the night and destroyed 30 olive trees he planted a decade ago, in revenge for the deaths of three young Israelis in a drive-by shooting last Sunday. "It is like losing your son," said Mr Nasr, 65, who has 10 children. "I watched them grow every year. At last they were producing. Every tree was as big as a house." The trees lay scattered on the rocky ground, cut down by power saws. The crushed branches still bore olives ripe for harvest. Only seven trees on his two-acre plot had survived. "I have no shop, no sheep, no cows," he said sadly. "I only had my olive trees." This was not the first time that militant settlers, waging a war of attrition against their neighbours in the hills east of Nablus for the past four years, had raided his grove.
Who Are the Palestinians?
Sami Hadawi
An outstanding Christian Palestinian scholar provides an eloquent, informed look into the background and origins of the seemingly endless strife in the Holy Land. Hadawi, author of Bitter Harvest, and co-author of the two-volume Palestine Diary, examines the grim record of Jewish-Zionist encroachment and dispossession. In this valuable overview of the history of Palestine, and the plight of its oppressed people, he highlights the crimes of Ariel Sharon and other Zionist leaders. Hadawi takes on the much-discussed issue of Palestinian “terrorism,” and indicts the shameful support by many American Christians for the Zionist oppression of fellow Christians in the Holy Land. As topical as this week’s headlines! From the 4th IHR Conference, 1982.

Belgian Authorities Were 'Active' In Jewish Holocaust
Researchers have reached some damning conclusions in a study aiming to settle the thorny question of Belgium's role in the Holocaust. On Wednesday, the Centre for Studies and Documents on Wars and Contemporary Societies (SEGES) published an interim report in a project started in September 2004. The centre is analysing the evidence in Belgium's archives to establish how the country treated Jews during the German occupation. Above all, researchers hope to get to the bottom of the part the Belgian authorities played in deporting Jews to the concentration camps. SEGES director Rudi Van Doorslaer and the four researchers in his team have already established that many Belgian administrations played an active role in persecuting Jews in Belgium. When the German occupying forces introduced a law banning Jewish citizens from working as civil servants, the Belgian authorities went even further, obliging every civil servant to prove they were not Jewish.

Sharon Grabs More West Bank Land Than He Returned in Gaza
Chris McGreal
...these de facto border posts are just one element in a web of construction evidently intended to redraw Israel's borders deep inside the Palestinian territories and secure all of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, and to do it fast so as to put the whole issue beyond negotiation. As foreign leaders, including Tony Blair, praised Mr Sharon for his "courage" in pulling out of Gaza last month, Israel was accelerating construction of the West Bank barrier, expropriating more land in the West Bank than it was surrendering in Gaza, and building thousands of new homes in Jewish settlements. At the core of the strategy is the 420-mile West Bank barrier which many Israeli politicians regard as marking out a future border. Its route carves out large areas for expansion of the main Jewish settlements of Ariel, Maale Adumim and Gush Etzion, and expropriates swaths of Palestinian land by separating it from its owners.

Iraq Has Descended Into Anarchy, Says Fisk
Nigel Morris
Most of Iraq is in a state of anarchy, with insurgents controlling parts of Baghdad just half a mile from the so-called Green Zone, an Independent debate was told last night. Robert Fisk, Middle East correspondent for The Independent, whose new book The Great War for Civilisation: the Conquest of the Middle East has just been published by 4th Estate, painted a picture of deepening chaos and misery in Iraq more than two years after Saddam Hussein was toppled. He said that the "constant, intensive involvement" in the Middle East by the West was a recurring pattern over centuries and was the reason why "so many Muslims in the
Middle East
hate us". He added: " We can close doors on history. They can't." ... Recalling the sight of an immense
US
convoy rolling into the country's capital, he said: "A superpower has a visceral need to project military power. We can go to
Baghdad
, so we will go to
Baghdad

'Good Night, and Good Luck' - The New Movie About Edward R. Murrow and Joseph McCarthy
Jack Shafer
If Jesus Christ no longer satisfies your desire to worship a man as god, I suggest you buy a ticket for Good Night, and Good Luck, the new movie about legendary CBS News broadcaster Edward R. Murrow. Good Night, and Good Luck's Murrow burns cigarettes like altar incense. He speaks in a resonant, godly rumble. And he plods through the greatest story ever told about the hunting of communist hunter Sen. Joseph R. McCarthy like a man carrying all the world's sins. Of course, Murrow was no god. Point of fact, he shouldn't be regarded as the patron saint of broadcast news his fans, among them Good Night, and Good Luck director George Clooney, make him out to be.
Joseph McCarthy's Charges Were True
Jon Basil Utley
Although Joseph McCarthy was one of the most demonized American politicians of the last century, new information -- including half-century-old FBI recordings of Soviet embassy conversations -- are showing that McCarthy was right in nearly all his accusations. "With Joe McCarthy it was the losers who've written the history which condemns him," said Dan Flynn, director of Accuracy in Academia's recent national conference on McCarthy, broadcast by C-SPAN. Using new information obtained from studies of old Soviet files in Moscow and now the famous Vanona Intercepts -- FBI recordings of Soviet embassy communications between 1944-48 -- the record is showing that McCarthy was essentially right. He had many weaknesses, but almost every case he charged has now been proven correct. Whether it was stealing atomic secrets or influencing U.S. foreign policy, communist victories in the 1940s were fed by an incredibly vast spy and influence network.

Feds Probe Jewish Defense League for Extortion of Rap Stars
The FBI "extensively investigated" whether late rap music stars Tupac Shakur and Eric "Eazy-E" Wright were the victims of death threats and extortion plots hatched by individuals aligned with the militant Jewish Defense League, The Smoking Gun has learned. Following a 2-1/2 year probe, bureau officials closed the investigation in May 1999, noting that agents were unable to corroborate information provided by two confidential FBI sources. Details of the federal investigation, which began weeks after Shakur was murdered in September 1996, are contained in records provided by the bureau pursuant to a Freedom of Information request filed by TSG. Those records, many of which were heavily redacted prior to their release, indicate that the FBI probe was classified a "Domestic Terrorism" case because of the JDL's alleged involvement.
The Zionist Terror Network
This booklet documents the background and criminal activities of Jewish Zionist terrorist groups, and especially the Jewish Defense League. Particular emphasis is given here to terror -- including murder -- against "thought criminals" who question the Holocaust story that six million Jews were systematically killed during the Second World War. Zionist terrorists openly proclaim an arrogant Jewish-supremacist ideology and acknowledge their readiness to use violence against those who disagree with them. With a well-documented record of bigotry and crime, they pose a serious danger to our society, and to men and women everywhere who treasure freedom.

Nashville 'Holocaust' Memorial To Preserve 'Legacy of Survival'
Jeannine F. Hunter
Several families, elected officials and other guests gathered yesterday at the Gordon Jewish Community Center for the groundbreaking of a Nashville Holocaust Memorial, behind the site of the center's summer camp. The center's president, David Berck, said he envisioned a day when "school buses come to our campus and enable students who are not able to go to Yad Vashem, the memorial in Israel, or to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial in Washington, D.C., to get an up-close education of the Holocaust here in Nashville. Sculptor Alex Limor created the memorial's centerpiece that was unveiled: a large bronze book with missing or tattered pages filled with silhouettes of nameless faces to represent the status of European Jewry. His father, Irvin Limor, was a sculptor and Holocaust survivor whom Alex Limor described as leaving "a legacy of survival and an example of strength and dignity." Alex Limor's mother, Elizabeth Limor, is also a survivor who volunteers as a guest speaker about her experiences.

Jewish Hegemony in the Western World: An Interview With Ahmed Rami
The Zionist control of the media imposes a kind of media terrorism and hypocrisy, in such a way that many Swedes have a public opinion which they express on radio and TV. If [a Swede] wants to live a normal life and have work, he must claim to be Israel's friend and the enemy of Israel's enemies. But when you talk to regular Swedes, and even authors, privately, they are all against Israel and against the Zionist occupation. Nevertheless, if Israel finds itself in danger and if we become stronger than it, no Westerner will come to its defense. The Jews in the West and this has become a tradition have 100% complete control of the media, of the political parties, of the trade unions, and of the publishing houses. They politically control all the parties, from Right to Left.
Swedish Professors Defend Revisionism On Trial
R. Clarence Lang
For Rami, who has made it a point to interview noted Swedes, Holocaust Revisionism is more than a passive intellectual, historical pursuit. It is instead an active, first, necessary ideological step in the liberation of the Palestinian people. Accordingly, as long as the Holocaust remains unchallenged historically in the Western world, so long will it victimize the Palestinians. Rami recalls a quote attributed to Charles de Gaulle, who at the end of World War II claimed that for the Palestinians, World War II was merely a battle in an ongoing war. In this light, then, the intifada is really a continuation of World War II.

Natural Born Liars
Paul Craig Roberts
George W. Bush is a natural born liar. He lied us into a war, and now he is lying to keep us there. In his October 6 self-congratulatory speech at that neoconservative shrine, the National Endowment for Democracy, the President of the United States said: "Today there are more than 80 Iraqi army battalions fighting the insurgency alongside our forces." Eighty Iraqi battalions makes it sound like the US is just lending Iraq a helping hand. I wonder what Congress and the US commanders in Iraq thought when they heard there were 80 Iraqi battalions that American troops are helping to fight insurgents? Just a few days prior to Bush's speech, Generals Casey and Abizaid told Congress that, as a matter of fact, there was only one Iraqi battalion able to undertake operations against insurgents.

Dying for the Emperor? - US Views of Japan in World War II
Mike Rogers
What a bunch of post-war revisionist nonsense. The above statement is pure US government propaganda. It contains almost as many outrageous lies as it does individual words. The only part of this statement that is absolutely true is, "US President Harry S. Truman ordered the atomic bombings." This drivel, in many forms, has been repeated again and again to US schoolchildren over these past 60 some years to the point that even some (supposedly educated) US scholars have begun to repeat the mantra. This lie has been so overblown that, recently, the absurd amount of "saved lives" has ballooned from "one million lives" to "two million lives" to even the point where President George W. Bush has stretched it to "millions of lives." At this rate, by the year 2025, the atomic bombings will have saved 20 million lives. America, this is a lie. It’s time you faced up to the truth about the war and the atomic bombings.

New Revelations About British and Soviet Deceit in World War II
Erkki Hautamäki was born in 1930. In the 1960s he worked in a special task of the Finnish army headquarters. The central hypotheses concerning and changing the writing of the history of Finland are as based on his book: The winter war of Finland did not stop because of Stalin’s fear of a possible threat of western allies attacking to defend Finland. It ended when Hitler sent Stalin an edict that Stalin shall cease the acts of war against Finland, or Germany will bombard Soviet troops and fight for Finland unbidden. If this would have happened, the allied forces would have conquered Norway and Sweden in the name of Finnish aid. Simultaneously the Soviet Union would have conquered Finland. Finland would have drawn into war and Scandinavia would have been a front against Germany. Churchill and the allied forces thus sold Finland to the Russians.

US Presses for Syria 'Regime Change'
Anton La Guardia
Israel predicted yesterday that America would impose fresh sanctions on Syria in an attempt to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad. Shaul Mofaz, the defence minister, said he believed sanctions would follow publication of a United Nations report expected to implicate senior Syrian officials in the murder of Rafik al-Hariri, the former Lebanese prime minister. "I won't be surprised if Syria gets a red card," Mr Mofaz told Israel radio. "[The United States] will take actions against Syria, beginning with economic sanctions and moving on to others, that will make it clear to the Syrians that their policies do not comply with UN decisions, the US's new world order or the prohibition of sovereign states to support terrorism." On Saturday, President George W Bush and his national security council are to discuss America's options on Syria, ranging from tightening existing limited sanctions to military action.

A Dying America?
Dermot Purgavie
This week Karen Hughes, long-time political adviser to George Bush, began her new mission as the State Department's official defender of America's image with a tour of the Middle East. She might have been more help to her beleaguered president had she stayed at home and used her PR skills on her neighbours. With TV providing a ceaseless backdrop of the country's failings - a crippled and tone-deaf president, a negligent government, corruption, military atrocities, soaring debt, racial conflict, poverty, bloated bodies in floodwater, people dying on camera for want of food, water and medicine - it seemed things were falling apart in the land where happiness is promoted in the constitution. Disillusioning news was everywhere. In the flight from Hurricane Rita, evacuees fought knife fights over cans of petrol. In storm-hit Louisiana there were long queues at gun stores as people armed themselves against looters.

Jews Readmitted to Britain 'Through Back Door' in 1656
And Jeremy Michelson, Manchester Jewish Museum education officer, is the man spearheading Manchester celebrations. He told the fascinating story of how readmission happened "through the back door" after Dutch kabbalist Rabbi Menasseh Ben Israel had given up hope of having his petition granted by Oliver Cromwell. Few realise that those directly responsible for the readmission were Marranos, hidden Jews whose ancestors had fled the Spanish Inquisition. The first recorded Marranos to have reached Britain arrived during the 16th century reigns of Henry VIII and Edward VI, attracted by the Reformation and the easing of Catholic restrictions. But they vanished with the accession of Catholic Mary I in 1553, only to return during the Protestant reign of Elizabeth I. One, a prominent physician, Dr Rodrigues Lopez was sentenced to death for an alleged poison plot.

Romania Marks 'Holocaust', Pledges to Teach Youth
Martin Dokoupil
Romania, which for decades denied any part in the Holocaust, must teach its children that Jews were murdered on its territory, the foreign minister said on Sunday as Romania marked its second Holocaust Day. "Admitting what happened, and a proper education of the young generation, will prevent similar events taking place," Foreign Minister Razvan Ungureanu was quoted as saying by state news agency Rompres. Ungureanu was attending a memorial ceremony in the eastern city of Iasi for hundreds of thousands of Jews killed during Romania's World War Two alliance with Nazi Germany. He later opened a Jewish Studies Centre in Iasi, where most of Romania's pre-war Jewish population lived.

Jewish Center Criticizes National Security Agency for IHR Mention
A Jewish research group is sharply criticizing the National Security Agency for a new report that refers to the Institute for Historical Review as a center for “scholars and researchers” and as a “scholarly association.” “For a US government report to call them ‘scholars’ gives them the legitimacy they desperately crave but do not deserve,” said Rafael Medoff, director of the Wyman Institute for Holocaust Studies, who is calling on the agency to withdraw the report from circulation and “correct” it. IHR director Mark Weber dismissed the Wyman Institute’s complaint as bigoted and desperate. “To any unbiased person,” said Weber, “the IHR’s record of scholarship is self-evident and incontrovertible.”

Remembering German Victims of World War II
Mark M. Anderson
Are the former Allied nations willing to acknowledge German suffering and loss during World War II? Are they willing to question the morality of the means by which they won the war, even the firebombing that laid waste to 131 German cities and towns, and killed more than half a million people (most of them women, children and the elderly)? Or was the extremity of Nazi aggression so great, the urgency to defeat Hitler so compelling, that the Allies have effectively been shielded from the kind of moral scrutiny that has been focused on the use of atomic weapons against Japan? However one might answer those questions today, for much of the postwar period the occupying nations on both sides of the Berlin wall felt little reason to justify their actions. Germans grumbled mightily among themselves, but any public airing of their grievances was subject to severe constraints and cold war manipulation.

Bush Is Cooking Up Two More Wars
Paul Craig Roberts
... the Bush administration is planning to make the US the first country in history to initiate war with nuclear weapons. The Pentagon document, "Doctrine for Joint Nuclear Operations," calls for the use of nuclear weapons against non-nuclear adversaries in order "to ensure success of US and multinational operations." In the case of Iran and North Korea, the Bush administration is using diplomacy not for diplomatic purposes of reaching agreements, but in order to set the two countries up for nuclear attack. In the case of Iran, the Bush administration's plan is now obvious. The Bush administration is leveling false charges against Iran, just as it did against Iraq, of conspiring to make nuclear weapons. These charges are known to be false by the Bush administration and by the entire world.

Israel Plans for Strike Against Iran
Roee Nahmias
Sharon reportedly presented Bush with satellite photos of Iran’s nuclear facilities and asked to attack them. The president apparently “coldly” referred him to U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who told the PM the U.S. chose to pursue the diplomatic channel, in conjunction with European states, to resolve the problem. Earlier reports said Sharon informed Washington in a special letter that Iranian nuclear arms would threaten the safety of Israelis more than any other nation. The PM reportedly said Israel would consider postponing military action against Teheran out of consideration for the U.S., but added Israel would not “wait forever.” According to al-Watan, Israel made it clear that it would only be able to wait until a certain date next year and would strike at Iran if no progress is made by that time.

Zundel Is Dangerous, Says Canadian Lawyer

MacIntosh said there was no doubt that Zundel was a threat to national security, and even to international stability. "Some people believe that Zundel is nothing but a revisionist, a Holocaust denier, which is reprehensible, but not a danger to national security… Zundel was a very dangerous man,” MacIntosh said. He said Zundel’s propaganda could have further fuelled rising anti-Semitism in the world and Islamic extremism. Although much of the evidence against Zundel remains secret, MacIntosh stressed that the case against him was “overwhelming,” and consisted of over 100 pages of summary, along with 1,600 supporting documents, that were vetted by judges before being admitted. Zundel funded organizations and “advised and directed” white supremacists who advocated violence against blacks, Jews and other minorities, and the overthrow of the U.S, German and South African governments.

Elie Wiesel To Be Honored By Dalai Lama
The Dalai Lama will present Holocaust survivor, writer and peace activist Elie Wiesel with the International Campaign for Tibet's Light of Truth award during the Tibetan spiritual leader's visit to Washington DC in November. The Dalai Lama will also present the award, which honors individuals and institutions who have made significant contributions to the public understanding of Tibet, to correspondent Lowell Thomas Jr, one of the first Westerners to visit Tibet prior to the Chinese invasion in 1949, and President of the National Endowment for Democracy Carl Gershman. The awards ceremony on November 15th takes place during the Dalai Lama’s high-profile 10-day visit to Washington DC from 8 November. During the visit, he is expected to meet the US President George Bush, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Congressional leaders and others.
A Prominent False Witness: Elie Wiesel
Robert Faurisson
In an autobiographical book that supposedly describes his experiences at Auschwitz and Buchenwald, he nowhere mentions the gas chambers. He does indeed say that the Germans executed Jews, but ... by fire; by throwing them alive into flaming ditches, before the very eyes of the deportees! No less than that! Here Wiesel the false witness had some bad luck. Forced to choose from among several Allied war propaganda lies, he chose to defend the fire lie instead of the boiling water, gassing, or electrocution lies. In 1956, when he published his testimony in Yiddish, the fire lie was still alive in certain circles. This lie is the origin of the term Holocaust. Today there is no longer a single historian who believes that Jews were burned alive. The myths of the boiling water and of electrocution have also disappeared. Only the gas remains. The gassing lie was spread by the Americans. The lie that Jews were killed by boiling water or steam (specifically at Treblinka) was spread by the Poles. The electrocution lie was spread by the Soviets.

Iran Warns Israel Against Attacking Nuclear Sites
Iran's parliament speaker warned Israel against any attempt to attack its nuclear facilities, and promised to "teach it a lesson" if it did. "If Israel does something stupid and attacks our nuclear facilities like it did in Iraq, we promise to teach it a lesson it will never forget," Gholam Ali Hadad-Adel said after talks with his Syrian counterpart in Damascus. He was referring to a 1981 strike by Israel against the Osiraq nuclear reactor in Iraq, which the Jewish state suspected of developing atomic weapons. "We will not give in," Hadad Adel said, citing the "right" of all countries to use nuclear energy for civilian energy purposes under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Unwinnable War
Charley Reese
The war against terrorism, however, is being waged against individuals scattered around the world. When one is killed, he is replaced by another. There is not, and there never will be, anyone who can say, on behalf of all terrorists, "OK, we quit." Most of the terrorists in the world don't even know each other. I've often pointed to Israel as an example of the futility of trying to shoot or bomb your way out of a terrorist problem. No nation on Earth has been more ruthless, more determined and more effective in fighting terrorists than Israel, yet after more than 50 years, the Israelis are still plagued by it. That's because they have refused to solve the political problem occupation of Palestinian land that gives rise to it.

Maltese Prime Minister Defends Illegal Immigrants After Touring US 'Holocaust' Musuem
Steve Mallia
The World War II holocaust should serve as a reminder to all those in Malta taking part in demonstrations that "attack the fundamental rights of human beings", Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said yesterday. Speaking after touring the evocative and haunting Holocaust Museum in Washington, the Prime Minister launched a thinly-veiled attack on the protests against the illegal immigrants landing in Malta: "This visit was full of significance and we would do well to deliver that message to our country. This visit reminds us that the dignity of the person should always come first." Dr Gonzi said the interest of the state must never come before the fundamental rights of human beings. "We must never forget the lessons of the past. Every person, irrespective of colour, belief, or race is a human being... We are a people that have always believed in values and this morning's visit reminds us of those values."
The US Holocaust Memorial Museum: A Challenge
Robert Faurisson
Nor could the monumental US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC, which was formally dedicated on April 22, 1993, allow itself to ignore the Nazi gas chambers. The question remained: What kind of physical representation of this terrifying weapon would the new Museum provide? We now know the answer, and it is dismaying: For lack of anything better this opulent museum - which has cost American taxpayers and donors from the American Jewish community more than $150 million - has been reduced to showing us, as its only model of a homicidal gas chamber, a casting of a gas chamber at the former Majdanek camp in Poland: a gas chamber for . . . delousing. As I shall explain, even Jean-Claude Pressac, author of a 564-page work published in 1989 in cooperation with the Beate Klarsfeld Foundation of New York, was obliged to acknowledge that this room was merely a delousing chamber.

Germans Set Off A-Bomb in 1944, Says Italian Author
John Hooper
A book published in Italy today is set to reignite a smouldering controversy over how close the Nazis came to manufacturing a nuclear device in the closing stages of the second world war. The 88 year-old author, Luigi Romersa, is the last known witness to what he and some historians believe was the experimental detonation of a rudimentary weapon on an island in the Baltic in 1944. Hitler's nuclear programme has become a subject of intense dispute in recent months, particularly in Germany. An independent historian, Rainer Karlsch, met with a barrage of hostility when he published a study containing evidence that the Nazis had got much further than previously believed.
