Israel Honors Jewish Terrorists
After half a century of reticence and recrimination, Israel on Wednesday honored nine Egyptian Jews recruited as agents-provocateur in what became one of the worst intelligence bungles in the country's history.
Israel was at war with Egypt when it hatched a plan in 1954 to ruin its rapprochement with the United States and Britain by firebombing sites frequented by foreigners in Cairo and Alexandria.
But Israeli hoped the attacks, which caused no casualties, would be blamed on local insurgents collapsed when the young Zionist bombers were caught and confessed at public trials. Two were hanged. The rest served jail terms and emigrated to Israel.
The Lavon Affair: Is History Repeating Itself?
In 1954, Israeli agents working in Egypt planted bombs in several buildings, including a United States diplomatic facility, and left evidence behind implicating Arabs as the culprits. The ruse would have worked, had not one of the bombs detonated prematurely, allowing the Egyptians to capture and identify one of the bombers, which in turn led to the round up of an Israeli spy ring.
Some of the spies were from Israel, while others were recruited from the local Jewish population. Israel responded to the scandal with claims in the media that there was no spy ring, that it was all a hoax perpetrated by "anti-Semites." But as the public trial progressed, it was evident that Israel had indeed been behind the bombing. Eventually, Israeli's Defense Minister Pinhas Lavon was brought down by the scandal, although it appears that he was himself the victim of a frame-up by the real authors of the bombing project, code named "Operation Susannah."
It is therefore a fact that Israel has a prior history of setting off bombs with the intent to blame Arabs for them.

Panel: Agencies 'Dead Wrong' on Iraq
America's spy agencies were "dead wrong" in most prewar assessments about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and know disturbingly little about current nuclear threats, a presidential commission said Thursday.
"Our collection agencies are often unable to gather intelligence on the very things we care the most about," the panel concluded in an unsparing report.
'Dead Wrong' or Outright Deception?
Justin Raimondo
The WMD report is about as damning as it is possible to get, short of an indictment in a court of law: "dead wrong" is damned strong, especially given the typically understated language of these sorts of documents.

Sinking Globalization
Niall Ferguson
Could globalization collapse? It may seem unlikely today. Yet despite many warnings, people were shocked the last time globalization crumbled, with the onslaught of World War I. Like today, that period was marked by imperial overstretch, great-power rivalry, unstable alliances, rogue regimes, and terrorist organizations. And the world is no better prepared for calamity now.

Two-Thirds of World's Resources 'Used Up'
The human race is living beyond its means. A report backed by 1,360 scientists from 95 countries - some of them world leaders in their fields - today warns that the almost two-thirds of the natural machinery that supports life on Earth is being degraded by human pressure.
The study contains what its authors call "a stark warning" for the entire world. The wetlands, forests, savannahs, estuaries, coastal fisheries and other habitats that recycle air, water and nutrients for all living creatures are being irretrievably damaged. In effect, one species is now a hazard to the other 10 million or so on the planet, and to itself.
"Human activity is putting such a strain on the natural functions of Earth that the ability of the planet's ecosystems to sustain future generations can no longer be taken for granted," it says.

China Gains Diplomatic Clout as Opinion of U.S. in Pacific Rim Weakens
For nearly 60 years, the United States has been the economic engine of the Pacific Rim able to use its financial ties to Japan, South Korea and most nations of Southeast Asia to exert its will throughout the region. But that era is drawing to a close.
In 2003, China overtook the United States as the biggest trading partner of South Korea. Last year, China became Japan's biggest trading partner. By the end of this year, it is likely to become the dominant trader with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, a 10-nation bloc stretching from the Philippines to Cambodia. By the end of 2006, China could become Australia's chief partner, leapfrogging the United States and the European Union.
That economic prowess is beginning to turn into political clout, as Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao conduct a "charm offensive" throughout the region offering to erase trade barriers with friendly nations. And the fact that the Bush administration seems to be ignoring most of east Asia while concentrating on Iraq and the Middle East has helped Beijing, diplomats and analysts say.

The Other War that Never Ends:
A Survey of Some Recent Literature on World War I
Ralph Raico
The Second World War has been called the war that never ends. To a lesser degree, the same could be said of the First World War. It has been estimated, for instance, that the Yale library has 34,000 titles on that conflict published before 1977 and more than 5,000 since.
What I propose to do in this all too brief is article to survey a few recent works...
American Militarism
Chalmers Johnson
Many American leaders and intellectuals are truly distressed over our role in the world and the loathing our policies have elicited in virtually every country on Earth. These four books provide important confirmation that they have good reason to be...

Iraq: A war for Israel?
Mark Weber
Featured on Aljazeera.com
[This article by Mark Weber is also available here on the IHR website, and can be purchased online as a handy leaflet through the Noontide Press website.]
The United States Invasion of Iraq in March-April 2003, and the occupation of the country since then, has cost more than a thousand American lives and many tens of billions of dollars, and has brought death to many thousands of Iraqis.
Why did President Bush decide to go to war? In whose interests was it launched?
...Whatever the secondary reasons for the Iraq war, the crucial factor in President Bush’s decision to attack was to help Israel. With support from Israel and America’s Jewish-Zionist lobby, and prodded by Jewish "neo-conservatives" holding high-level positions in his administration, President Bush who was already fervently committed to Israel resolved to invade and subdue one of Israel’s chief regional enemies.

Bring Our Troops Back Home
Kevin Alfred Strom
Featured on Aljazeera.com
The greatest dangers to the life and liberty of the American people are the expanding war in the Middle East and the invasion pouring across our southern borders. Help us awaken others to these dangers — and encourage them to become part of the solution.
I often hate it when my predictions come true. I hate the fact that my prediction of a protracted war in Iraq came true. I hate the fact that Americans and innocents of many nationalities are dying for Israel in that bloodbath. And I especially hate the fact that my prediction of the neocon push for an even wider Middle East war is coming true before our eyes.
The next targets are Iran and Syria. This coming expansion of the War for Israel may well be several orders of magnitude larger than what we've experienced so far, may involve several nations simultaneously, and has the potential to develop into a World War, with huge losses for America and the West as well as for the other innocent victims of Zionist ambition and Jewish supremacist hate.

Poisoning the Well: The False Equation of Anti-Zionism and Anti-Semitism
In a recent review of Dennis Ross’s book The Missing Peace: The Inside Story of the Fight for Middle East Peace, the military historian Victor Davis Hanson writes:
"The world is obsessed with the so-called occupied territories in Palestine, but not from any abstract principle of postbellum equity or worry over civilian deaths. Otherwise UN resolutions, European subsidies, and American envoys would have been focused on occupied Tibet or Lebanon, or the killing of tens of thousands of innocents in Rwanda and Darfur. So Palestine is not so much a moral issue as a political lightning rod that involves Arab oil, Arab global terrorism, Arab fundamentalist violence in and beyond the Middle East, and Arab anti-Semitism that finds resonance in Europe."
Taken at face value, the passage asserts the following remarkable propositions:
1. The West Bank and Gaza Strip are not occupied.
2. Those concerned with the rights of Palestinians do so from ulterior motives but lyingly assert that they do so from moral motives. Principal among these ulterior motives are greed and bigotry.
3. To prove their veracity, “the world” should focus (or should have focused) more attention than it has on Tibet, Lebanon, Rwanda and Darfur.
These claims are a textbook example of the fallacy of poisoning the well the fallacy, in logic, of rebutting someone’s argument by adducing the ulterior motives he might have had for making it.

Hersh Speech Blasts Bush and War Policy
Seymour Hersh confirmed existing worries about Bush's next four years in office during a Tuesday night lecture in the Memorial Chapel.
Hersh forecasted a protracted war in Iraq, an obstinate president who will remain indifferent to anti-war sentiments, and an economic collapse. In his talk "Chain of Command: From 9/11 to Abu Ghraib," Hersh criticized both Republicans and Democrats, stressing the need for new faces in Congress.
Hersh began his lecture by describing Bush's vision of the war in Iraq and the effects his beliefs will have for the future of US intervention.
"Bush thinks he's doing the right thing in Iraq," Hersh said. "He's completely committed whether it's finishing his father's work, for divine reasons, or manifest destiny. Over 1,500 body bags have come back and another 1,000 or 2,000 body bags wouldn't stop him."

Update on Ernst Zündel
Please forgive the lateness of this letter, but I had no stamps. A staff member lent me a pen, but it ran out of ink after 1 1/2 pages to Ingrid. Since I did not know a soul here, I had to first make acquaintances - and then was able to trade some sugar for the rental/borrowing for a pen. A real, full length, common-sense ball point pen! Things are looking up already!
You most likely were told [of my deportation] by Canada's Chief Removal/Enforcement Officer, Mr. Morris, who arranged my removal via executive jet and accompanied me all the way to Europe. With that arrangement of a "human shield" I felt safe! I really was concerned about an Air India scenario. Since these people have shown such vindictiveness I would put nothing past them!

AIPAC Officials Appear Before Grand Jury
AIPAC: "Any allegation of criminal conduct by AIPAC or our employees is false and baseless"
Top officials at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee have appeared before a grand jury and two senior staffers have been placed on paid leave in the latest developments in the federal investigation of the pro-Israel lobby for allegedly passing classified information to Israel, according to multiple sources with direct knowledge of the case.
At the same time, the Pentagon staffer at the center of the allegations, accused of espionage by the FBI and then pressured into an alleged FBI "sting" against AIPAC, has been quietly rehired by the Pentagon, over the FBI's objections.
...The entire Jewish community is watching closely. As one Jewish leader who asked not to be identified said, "If AIPAC is targeted in this fashion, it is not good news for the rest of us. AIPAC would be only the beginning."

We Won't Forget Rachel Corrie
Alison Weir
There is a quiet battle going on for the memory of a young woman who could have been my daughter, or perhaps yours.
On one side are those who would like to erase her from history her actions, her beliefs, her murder. If they are unsuccessful at that, they will settle for posthumous slurs on her character, falsifications of her death.
On the other side are those who feel her shining principles should be praised, her courage honored, her death grieved. On this side are those who believe that heroism is noble, bravery admirable, and compassion for others the most fundamental form of morality.
To those of us on this side, Rachel Corrie will never be forgotten. She was 23 when she was killed.

More Than Five Hundred Historians Protest C-Span Broadcast of David Irving
More than 500 prominent historians and other scholars have now signed the petition protesting C-SPAN's plan to broadcast a lecture by "Holocaust-denier" David Irving on its program "Book TV."
Says Wyman Institute director Dr. Rafael Medoff (right): "The Holocaust is not a topic with 'opposing views.' It is a historical fact. Giving a platform to a Holocaust-denier to 'balance' a Holocaust historian [see story below] is as outrageous as giving a platform to the Flat Earth Society to balance a speech by an astronomer. Like any responsible news outlet, C-SPAN should not broadcast speeches or statements it knows to be false."

Deborah Lipstadt on Bill O'Reilly
David Irving: In the evening Bill O'Reilly does screen on Fox News an interview with Lipstadt, but it is visibly edited, to judge from the subtle jump-cuts. Prof. Lipstadt seems obsessed with the Jewish Holocaust and David Irving.
She seems unable to understand why it is undignified for one party in a great debate to lay down rules which seek to silence and exclude the other altogether. How odd to see a large chunk of organised American academia cheering her from the sidelines. I really must be a thorn in their flesh.
Even with both hands tied behind ones back, one can still fight, however, as Lipstadt is now finding. O'Reilly seems to skirt around the big issues, and satisfies himself with one or two modest insults and smears. I can't even be bothered to watch the repeat. I could have smeared me better.

New Holocaust Book, New Lame Theory
How Germans Fell for the 'Feel-Good' Führer
A well-respected German historian has a radical new theory to explain a nagging question: Why did average Germans so heartily support the Nazis and Third Reich? Hitler, says Goetz Aly, was a "feel good dictator," a leader who not only made Germans feel important, but also made sure they were well cared-for by the state.
...Financing such home front "happiness" was not simple and Hitler essentially achieved it by robbing and murdering others, Aly claims. Jews. Slave laborers. Conquered lands. All offered tremendous opportunities for plunder, and the Nazis exploited it fully, he says.
...Aly's theory is not only fascinating for its brazenness, but also for the ruckus it is causing in Germany, where lately the trend has been to accept that Germans, too, suffered under Hitler and under the Allied bombing raids at the war's end. Aly is now negating much of that suffering, insisting that every single German benefited from Hitler's culture of killing.

The Voice You Silence May Be Your Own
I really don’t understand how perfectly rational, sane and kind-hearted individuals could subscribe to the idea that so-called "hate-speech" must be silenced. The world is not a better place because we punish people who say things that we, as the current mainstream, do not like and that fly in the face of decency, if not sanity.
...I believe that the keystone of a functioning democracy is the equal treatment of everyone under the law. The method in which Zundel was silenced was neither democratic nor lawful. And the B’nai B’rith cheering section has done itself a great disservice in applauding the ouster of Zundel because they are supporting a precedent that could result in some startling unexpected results.
The next time the UN passes a resolution about Zionism being equal to racism or a form of "hate," given Canada’s official sycophancy to the UN, it’s entirely possible that the same "law" used to oust Zundel, could be used to oust Zionists, or worse, to imprison them without trial.

Hitler Planned Holocaust Report
Concrete evidence that Adolf Hitler was personally involved in the details of planning the Holocaust has been published in a new German book based on Soviet interrogations of two of the Nazi leader's closest aides.
Matthias Uhl, a Berlin historian who found a secret biography of the Nazi leader in Moscow commissioned by Josef Stalin, said today that such tangible proof of Hitler's role in the Holocaust that killed six million had not been found before.
Historian David Irving Comments:
Each time I read that fresh "concrete evidence" of Adolf Hitler's involvement in the massacre of the Jews has been found, I wait for the inevitable follow up: such evidence has "not been found before." It comes along as sure as night follows day.
Each fresh "concrete discovery" thus discredits and invalidates the previous one, and this one too will eventually be discredited, not least because we are not shown the original German text of the statements by Günsche and Linge...

Germany Moves to Curb Free Speech
Germany's lower house of parliament recently voted by a large majority to tighten the right of assembly, thus making it easier in the future to ban "neo-Nazi" demonstrations at historic landmarks.
After weeks of heated debate, members of Germany's ruling government coalition of the Social Democrats (SPD) and the Greens as well as the conservative opposition Christian Democrats (CDU) voted overwhelmingly in favor of tightening the right of assembly and making changes to the existing criminal code.
The clamp-down is designed to curtail far-right demonstrations and rallies by far-right groups at historic landmarks such as the former Nazi concentration camps, Holocaust monuments and other memorials that remember victims of Nazi terror and violence.

George F. Kennan Dies
George F. Kennan, a diplomat and Pulitzer Prize-winning historian who formulated the basic foreign policy followed by the United States in the Cold War, died March 17 at his home in Princeton, N.J. He was 101.
A Foreign Service officer from 1926 to 1953, Mr. Kennan also was a student of Russian history, a keen and intuitive observer of people and events and a gifted writer. In his years in the State Department, he was recognized as the government's leading authority on the Soviet Union, and his views resonated in the corridors of authority with rare power and clarity.
His great moment as a policymaker came in 1946. While serving in the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, he wrote a cable outlining positions that guided Washington's dealings with the Kremlin until the collapse of the Soviet Union nearly a half-century later.
Known as the Long Telegram, it said that Soviet expansion must be halted and spelled out how that could be done. Moscow is "impervious to the logic of reason," Mr. Kennan said, but "it is highly sensitive to the logic of force." He did not state, however, that war was inevitable. The policy should have a military element, Mr. Kennan maintained, but it should consist primarily of economic and political pressure.

President of Polish American Congress Dies
President of Polish American Congress, Polish National Alliance dies; Edward Moskal was noted for his patriotism and his warnings of the dangers of Zionist power.
Presidents of the PNA were regularly invited to the White House. This was because of the fact that the PNA had approximately 400,000 members, its own newspaper and a conglomerate of businesses and cultural centers.
Under the PNA were also thousands of separate Polish-American clubs, associations, and organizations. Moskal was also the first leader of U.S. Whites of Polish heritage to be denied entry into the White House. Ethnic media indicated this was because of his open defense against what he termed Zionist influence. According to numerous press reports, he alleged that no other group has as much transnational power as the global network of Zionists.
Poles Mark Katyn Massacre
Poles on Saturday, March 5 attended a Mass, sang patriotic songs and laid flowers on a monument to more than 21,000 military officers and intellectuals massacred by Soviet agents in Katyn Forest, marking the day 65 years ago that dictator Josef Stalin ordered the killings.
Katyn Massacre — 'The Lost 10,000'
'Katyn' is a collective word used to embrace not only those 4,500 found in the forest of that name, but a further 10,000 murdered at the same time. These were the men imprisoned at Starobielsk Camp (about 4,000) and at Ostashkow Camp (about 6,000). It is customary to refer to them briefly as "the other 10,000 -- whose whereabouts have remained a mystery." But 10,000 murdered prisoners cannot be dismissed in so short a sentence.

Paranoia Grips The US Capital
Eric Margolis
The film Seven Days In May is one of my all-time favourites. The gripping 1964 drama, starring Burt Lancaster, depicts an attempted coup by far rightists in Washington using a top-secret Pentagon anti-terrorist unit called something like "Contelinpro."
Life imitates art. This week, former military intelligence analyst William Arkin revealed a hitherto unknown directive, with the Orwellian name "JCS Conplan 0300-97," authorizing the Pentagon to employ special, ultra-secret "anti-terrorist" military units on American soil for what the author claims are "extra-legal missions."
In other words, using U.S. soldiers to kill or arrest Americans, acts that have been illegal since the U.S. Civil War.

Latvian SS March Sparks Clashes
Latvia police have made dozens of arrests after "pro-Russian" activists tried to bloc a march of SS veterans and young nationalists in Riga.
The veterans had fought against Soviet troops on the side of Hitler's Germany in World War II.
The march in the capital was sanctioned by the Latvian authorities and took place amidst heavy police presence.
But it was interrupted by skirmishes which broke out as marchers came across the "anti-fascists'" human chain.

The European Volunteer Movement in World War II
Richard Landwehr
They called themselves the "assault generation" and they had largely been born in the years during and after World War I. Coming from every nation of Europe, they had risen up against the twin hydra of communism and big capitalism and banded together under one flag for a common cause. Fully a million of them joined the German Army in World War II, nearly half of them with the Waffen-SS. And it was in the Waffen-SS, the elite fighting force of Germany, where the idea of a united, anti-communist Europe became fully developed.

Mixed Results Two Years On
A poignant indicator of how the American occupation is going two years after the initial invasion of Iraq came Wednesday. Iraq's National Assembly met, a sign that the new transitional government chosen in the inspiring elections of Jan. 30 is beginning to govern. But the meeting was shaken by a volley of mortar fire that fell only a few hundred yards short of the assembly hall.
Baghdad is still one of the most dangerous cities in the world, rocked by daily violence. Mohammed Ghazi Umron, a truck driver who voted enthusiastically Jan. 30, told the Christian Science Monitor the roads leading from Baghdad range from "bad, but I haven't heard of any drivers being killed there in a few weeks" to "very, very dangerous. We try not to go past Abu Ghraib."

C-Span's Mistake
Deborah E. Lipstadt
The media storm in which I have been engulfed actually began a few weeks ago.
Shortly after History on Trial: My Day in Court with David Irving appeared HarperCollins received a call from C-Span’s Book TV asking for my speaking schedule. They were excited about covering the book. The HarperCollins folks were very pleased; particularly since C-Span’s coverage would come within a few weeks of publication of the book, when the book was readily available in the stores. (Some people still buy their books that way and more power to them!). As a C-Span Book TV junkie, I was delighted.
My joy was quickly dissipated when I learned that David Irving had announced on his website that C-Span had asked to appear in order to give “balance” to my presentation. I was surprised by this, to say the least.

America No. 1?
No concept lies more firmly embedded in our national character than the notion that the USA is "No. 1," "the greatest." Our broadcast media are, in essence, continuous advertisements for the brand name "America Is No. 1." Any office seeker saying otherwise would be committing political suicide. In fact, anyone saying otherwise will be labeled "un-American." We're an "empire," ain't we? Sure we are. An empire without a manufacturing base. An empire that must borrow $2 billion a day from its competitors in order to function. Yet the delusion is ineradicable. We're #1. Well, this is the country you really live in: |

Ernst Zundel's First Letter from Mannheim Jail
...Outside there raged a typical Canadian blizzard. Only with difficulty did we move along the road in several vehicles. I was in a mini-bus with three civilian-clad officials. When I saw that we passed the regular airport and aimed for the government/ministers' planes and charter/executive jets, even several Lear jets - the kind the CIA uses to fly its victims to the torture chambers - I made a weak joke to my RCMP companion: "This looks as though we are talking about an Arar-type rendition" - and at that point a big, impressive-looking man, mid-fifties, informed me that for security reasons the government had rented a two-turbo executive jet [?] for the enormous sum of $50,000. That's right! You read right! Including two pilots and a Purser [?] who was responsible for food, drinks etc...

Using the Holocaust to Ward off Criticism
The crowd of world leaders visiting the new Holocaust History Museum at Yad Vashem attests to the strength of Israel's position in the West.
This widely covered event shows that Israel has turned the liquidation of Europe's Jews into an asset. Our murdered relatives are being enlisted to enable Israel to continue not giving a damn about international decisions against the occupation. The suffering our parents endured in the ghettoes and concentration camps that filled Europe, the physical and mental anguish and torment that our parents were subjected to every single day since the "liberation," are used as weapons to thwart any international criticism of the society we are creating here. This is a society with built-in discrimination on the basis of nationality, and the discrimination is spreading on either side of the Green Line. This is a society that is systematically continuing to banish the Palestinian nation from its land and usurp its rights as a nation and its chances for a humane future.

Würzburg in Flames 1945
On March 16, 2005 Würzburg remembered the 60 anniversary of being turned into an inferno by the strategic bombing of experienced bomber Group Number 5, one of Royal Air Force’s most elite squadrons. Group 5 was considered the most precise and had already bombed the cities of Heilbronn, Darmstadt, Braunschweig, München und Kassel.
The attack took place at approximately 9:30 PM that night, with 236 planes over Würzburg while another 280 were heading for Nürnberg. According to the official statistics between 360,000 to 380,000 incendiary bombs were dropped in three waves, with 180 to 220 high-explosives bombs weighing 500 kg each, and an unknown quantity of Petrol Gelée cans thrown off the planes.

He also noted that the U.S. and Israeli threats have existed for the past 24 years, but "they are more serious than ever at present in light of the recent declarations by American and Israeli officials."

Wyman Institute Condemns C-Span Broadcast of David Irving
On behalf of The David S. Wyman Institute for Holocaust Studies, I am writing to express our opposition to your reported decision to broadcast a lecture by Holocaust-denier David Irving, to "balance" your intended broadcast of a lecture by Holocaust historian Prof. Deborah Lipstadt.
...If C-SPAN broadcasts a lecture by David Irving, it will provide publicity and legitimacy to Holocaust-denial, which is nothing more than a mask for anti-Jewish bigotry.
We strongly urge you to cancel your planned broadcast of the Irving lecture, and to proceed with your original plan to broadcast Prof. Lipstadt's forthcoming lecture at Harvard University.
C-SPAN's Balance of the Absurd
"In the end, Lipstadt had to choose between promoting her own book a terrific read, by the way and giving Irving the audience of his dreams and a status equal to her own."
David Irving Retorts:
A great article, Richard. I think we are on first name terms now? You have taken enough swipes at me, that I can even overlook the "wearing sheets" reference which you would never get away with in the UK, of course.
But I regard this great country's preservation of free speech per se as being worth the occasional bucket of slime, particularly when it comes from such sources as yourself: people are not dimwitted, and they know what you and Lipstadt are up to, and what your commonality is.
Security Tightened at Synagogues During "Supremacist Group" Visit
Thanks to the intrepid work of the kind folks at the Anti-Defamation League, injuries were kept to a minimum as David Irving signed books with a very sharp pen.

The Passion of the ADL
As we come into the Christian holy season, it is troubling that Mel Gibson made changes to "The Passion of the Christ" to de-emphasize the violence, yet made no effort to mitigate or remove the film's anti-Jewish elements.
"The Passion Recut" demonstrates that Mr. Gibson indeed has the power to make changes. His recut is selective to accommodate concerns of excessive violence, but not those of the Jewish community and concerned Christians disturbed by his offensive portrayal of Jews that leads viewers to believe Jews are responsible for the death of Jesus.
Our concern is that Gibson's "Passion of the Christ" and "The Passion Recut" will become the definitive version for the holy season, bringing to life on screen the most vicious anti-Semitic elements of traditional Passion Plays. It will continue to play again and again, year after year to audiences around the world without the benefit of the very public discussion that surrounded the film's initial debut in February 2004.

Hitler Finds an Audience in Turkey
ANKARA, Turkey "Mein Kampf," Adolf Hitler's notorious work outlining his anti-Semitic world view, has become a bestseller in this officially secular but mostly Muslim nation. Its sudden rebirth has alarmed the country's small Jewish community and raised concern among officials in the European Union, which Turkey aspires to join.
Remzi and D & R, Turkey's two largest bookstore chains, rank the work among the top 10 on their bestseller lists this month, as they did in February.
Some analysts say the appeal of "Mein Kampf" probably has to do with the rising anti-Americanism here, a result of the U.S.-led invasion of neighboring Iraq. Among the work's chief rivals on the bestseller lists is "Metal Storm," a gory thriller that depicts a U.S. invasion of Turkey. The hero, a Turkish spy whose training includes shooting his puppy, avenges his homeland by leveling Washington with a nuclear device.
In a country where conspiracy theories are commonly used to explain international politics, "it is accepted wisdom in some circles that Israel dictates U.S. policy," said Dogu Ergil, a Middle East expert at Ankara University. Thus, his theory goes, anti-Americanism morphs into a hybrid strain of anti-Semitism that in turn arouses curiosity about Hitler.

Why Germans Can Never Escape Hitler's Shadow
In Berlin, the former seat of Nazi Germany, a scandal is currently brewing that has nothing to do with modern Germany and everything to do with the nation's Nazi past. The brouhaha is over how May 8, 1945, the day Nazi Germany capitulated, should be remembered. Local officials of a wealthy Berlin district just passed a motion stating that victims of Nazi oppression are not the only ones who should be memorialized and honored. Regular German soldiers and civilians who were killed as well as women who were raped by the advancing Soviet army, too, should be remembered, they declared. |

On today's program we continue our update on the Zundel case, as Mr. Zundel, one of the world's foremost political prisoners and prisoners of conscience is newly imprisoned in Mannheim prison in Germany for the "crime" of doubting the court historians and the Jewish supremacist and Zionist lobby's view of history. I don't believe there is any clearer case in the world of a man who is in prison because of the dictates of his conscience and his determination to use his voice and pen to state the truth as he sees it. It is not an exaggeration to say that the fate of freedom in the West will be affected for decades to come, perhaps even centuries, by what is happening to Ernst Zundel right now.

Israel Plans Strike on Iranian Nuclear Plant
Israel has drawn up secret plans for a combined air and ground attack on targets in Iran if diplomacy fails to halt the Iranian nuclear program.
The inner cabinet of Ariel Sharon, the Israeli prime minister, gave “initial authorisation” for an attack at a private meeting last month on his ranch in the Negev desert.
Israeli forces have used a mock-up of Iran’s Natanz uranium enrichment plant in the desert to practise destroying it. Their tactics include raids by Israel’s elite Shaldag (Kingfisher) commando unit and airstrikes by F-15 jets from 69 Squadron, using bunker-busting bombs to penetrate underground facilities.
The plans have been discussed with American officials who are said to have indicated provisionally that they would not stand in Israel’s way if all international efforts to halt Iranian nuclear projects failed.

Israel: Military Strike on Iran 'Very Last Resort'
Ephraim Sneh, a member of the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee and a retired general, said on Sunday that Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons is a threat to Israel's very existence, but said Israeli military action would be a last resort.

Katsav: Sensitivity to Holocaust growing
"Leaders of the free world are showing more sensitivity to the Holocaust than ever before," Israeli President Moshe Katsav said Sunday.
He was referring to the large number of presidents, prime ministers, foreign ministers and other dignitaries from abroad who will be attending the Tuesday opening of Yad Vashem's new History Museum.
"Perhaps they needed the historic perspective of 60 years to identify with the Holohoax," he said, noting that this large-scale, high-ranking commemoration started at Auschwitz-Birkenau in January, is being given further expression in Israel this week, and will gain momentum in Russia in May.

I am Sad but Not Heart-Broken for I Believe in a Higher Destiny. I was not Meant to Retire!
An excerpt of one of the last Zundel letters written to a close French friend before he was deported to Germany
...My fate will be sealed very quickly in Germany. I am a second offender in their eyes. They have been hounded by Jewish leaders for 30 years to silence me one way or another. The current leadership, especially Joschka Fischer and Otto Schily, will fall over themselves to punish me to the maximum possible. Schröder, too, will join in.
Basically, what has happened is the culmination and fulfilment of Jewish-German policy, which I repeatedly outlined over the decades. Someone just yesterday sent me the Sept. 20, 1991 Power Letter in which I outlined one more time what my lawyer Jürgen Rieger in Germany, and what my earlier lawyer Lynne McCaw had found out — what Jewish organisations did behind the scenes in both Germany and Canada. And since my arrest and deportations from the U.S.A., we have unearthed there the very same termite-like activity by these people. It did not surprise me at all!

It's the 250th Anniversary of the French & Indian War: Should We Care?
Americans studying their own history commonly describe this war as the prelude to the American Revolution. Aside from being provincial, that interpretation both exaggerates and understates its real significance. The ideological split between England and its colonies began in earlier generations. Furthermore, the political, economic and social forces that drove the colonies toward revolution were in operation long before the war began. The American habit of viewing the French and Indian War backward through the lens of the Revolution masks its true importance as a world-shaping event.
At sea, and on battlefields in Europe, North America, the West Indies, Asia, India, and Africa, fleets and armies fought. Every major power in Europe joined the fray. More than one million people died. At the final peace, weary combatants traded territories vaster than all of Europe. England emerged victorious, and its triumph laid the foundation for a global empire from which it would draw the wealth and resources to fuel the industrial revolution and transform the world.

German Jewish Youths Teach Peers
In light of recent surveys showing that German youths have a very limited knowledge of Israel, German Jewish students have undertaken a pilot project to teach their peers about some facets of Jewish life in Israel and Germany.
The Israel Short Questionnaire (ISQ pronounced "I ask you") is the latest project of the Federal Association of Jewish Students in Germany (BJSD), in which about 10 Jewish student volunteers from each local Jewish Student Society of Germany will be sent to participate in an educational program at German secondary schools.
Founded to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Germany, the project aims to correct misleading ideas of German pupils about modern Jewish life in both countries, under the motto "Tell them the truth."
The project is being carried out under the patronage of Dr. Rita Suessmuth, president of the German Bundestag (Parliament), and Dr. Salomon Korn (above), vice president of the Central Jewish Committee of Germany. Like previous BJSD programs, it is supported by the Jewish Agency and the Central Committee of Jews in Germany. It will last eight months, after which its effectiveness will be evaluated.

Ernst Zundel: Modern-Day Galileo
Ernst Zundel is a controversial figure who has questioned the official story of the Holocaust for years. Why is that a crime?
...Like Zundel, I believe that the topic of the Holocaust should be openly and freely discussed and debated. I personally feel that how it is remembered today does a great disservice to the millions of other people who perished in World War II. The death toll was staggering why nitpick over which culture was impacted the most (not much of a debate when you consider the Roma were effectively obliterated)? Anybody that wants to disregard or debate that stance should be free to do so.
Except they're not. Travel to countries with laws prohibiting dissenting opinions on the Holocaust and you can be jailed right alongside Zundel. Most startling is that Zundel is being prosecuted because his website has the potential to reach German citizens. Does it frighten writers that their text, written and stored in an entirely different country online, can be used against them in a foreign court? It should.

The Great War Retold
Ralph Raico
Hunt Tooley traces the roots of the world-historical catastrophe of 19141918 to the Franco-Prussian war, which, while achieving German unification in 1871, understandably fostered an enduring resentment in France, "a country that was accustomed to humiliating others during 400 years of warmaking and aggression." Bismarck sought to ensure the Second Reich’s security through defensive treaties with the remaining continental powers (the ones with Austria-Hungary and Italy constituted the Triple Alliance). But under the new (and last) Kaiser, Wilhelm II, the treaty with Russia was permitted to lapse, freeing Russia to ally with France...
From the Institute for Historical Review:
Falsehood in Wartime:
Propaganda Lies of the First World War
Arthur Ponsonby
Classic debunking of the propaganda lies politicians and press manufactured about the enemy to stampede their own citizens into "the war to end all wars." British MP Ponsonby reveals how all the belligerents, but foremost his own country, faked documents, falsified photos, and invented horrifying atrocity stories. Authoritatively debunks numerous wartime hoaxes, including such durable tales as: the bayoneted Belgian babies, the German "corpse factory," "The Crucified Canadian," the martyrdom of Nurse Cavell, and the "passenger ship" Lusitania. In the publisher's foreword, historian Mark Weber points out fascinating parallels with World War II atrocity tales.

The Next Crusades
Uri Avnery
...Anyone who follows the American and Israeli (there is no difference) media, gets the impression that the present situation in Lebanon is simple: there are two camps, "the supporters of Syria" on the one side, the "opposition" on the other. There is a "Beirut Spring." The opposition is a twin sister of yesterday's Ukrainian opposition, and loyally imitates all its methods: demonstrations opposite the government building, a sea of waving flags, colorful shawls, and, most importantly, beautiful girls in the front row.
But between the Ukraine and Lebanon there exists not the slightest similarity. The Ukraine is a "simple" country: the east tends towards Russia, the west towards Europe. With American help, the west won.
In Lebanon, all the diverse communities are in action. Each for its own interest, each plotting to outfox the others, perhaps to attack them at a given opportunity. Some of the leaders are connected with Syria, some with Israel, all are trying to use the Americans for their ends. The jolly pictures of young demonstrators, so prominent in the media, have no meaning if one does not know the community which stands behind them.

The Stillborn Empire
Patrick J. Buchanan
Did I miss something? Where did all the “not since Rome” bombast, talk of America’s “benevolent global hegemony,” “Pax Americana,” and the New World Order disappear to? Whatever happened to the “jodhpurs and pith helmets” crowd?
Just a year ago, in the Irving Kristol Lecture at the annual AEI dinner, columnist Charles Krauthammer rhapsodized about America’s “global dominion” and our having “acquired the largest seeming empire in the history of the world.”
We have “overwhelming global power,” said Krauthammer. We are history’s “designated custodians of the international system.” When the Soviet Union fell, “something new was born, something utterly new a unipolar world dominated by a single superpower unchecked by any rival and with decisive reach in every corner of the globe. This is a staggering new development in history, not seen since the fall of Rome. ... Even Rome is no model for what America is today.”

London Mayor Continues Anti-Israel Line
Despite calling Prime Minister Ariel Sharon "a war criminal who should be in prison," London Mayor Ken Livingstone told The Jerusalem Post on Monday that he would agree to meet with him face-to-face should he visit England.
"And I would express to him in a meeting exactly the same views I have expressed in public," he added.
That would include charges that Sharon "continues to organize terror" by combating the current intifada, that Israel is engaged in a campaign of ethnic cleansing against the Palestinians similar to that of the Serbs in Bosnia and that the government is trying to frame Muslims for European anti-Semitism — all of which were outlined in a column published Friday in The Guardian.

Imagine You're Ernst Zundel
Peter Lindsay & Chi-Kun Shi, counsel to Ernst Zundel
Imagine that you're 65 years old and you're in jail. In solitary confinement. You are strip-searched whenever you see your lawyer. Once before. Once after. For two years.
Imagine that you're there because two politicians signed a piece of paper ("security certificate") saying that you are a security risk. You are not charged with a crime. You don't have a criminal record. You have lived in Canada for 42 years.
Imagine that those two politicians don't have to be right, so long as a judge thinks that they are "reasonable." So long as they are "reasonable," they can deport you to a country where you go to jail for saying something that you have the right to say in Canada. The Supreme Court of Canada had promised you that right.
Imagine that the prosecutor and the judge get to meet secretly without you and your lawyer and you never find out what they did in secret, what they read, who they saw. Again and again...

Rabbis Approve Using Tube to Remove Circumcision Blood
Rabbis should use a tube to suck blood from circumcision wounds rather than sucking directly with their mouths to protect infants and rabbis from disease, the leading Orthodox rabbinical group said yesterday.
In a traditional Orthodox practice during the brit, or circumcision ritual of baby boys, rabbis have been using their mouths to suck blood from the penis wounds and surrounding tissue for thousands of years.
The traditional practice has been under scrutiny after New York City health officials went to court late last year to stop a rabbi from performing the practice, which they believe may have led to the death of a baby boy from herpes.

Iran Time Bomb: Ticking, Ticking
...Consider the damage to the USS Stark (right) and now multiply it many times over, with oil tankers afire and Navy ships and crewmen lost. If chaos in the Gulf is the true intention of the American oiligarchs and Zionists who ostensibly run our country now and I believe it is then certainly a missile war with Iran that escalates to unlimited warfare seems likely.
...And the strategic interests are: Oil, Israel and Empire, in no particular order, as one editor so succinctly put it. God help a nation hijacked by a minority of policymakers with an agenda that appears to run counter to the greater good. The Iran time bomb is ticking, ticking, and the danger is closer to home than anyone realizes.

Zundel's Persecution: By Order of the Jews, an interview with Mark Weber, part 1
 listen to the broadcast (mp3)
Mark Weber again discusses the case of political prisoner Ernst Zundel with Mr. Strom. The twenty-year persecution of Ernst Zundel has nothing to do with the supposed "legal" reasons which are officially invoked — and everything to do with Jewish vengeance and criminal Jewish manipulation of the legal systems of three nations.

Hitler Won Atomic Bomb Race, but Couldn't Drop It
Adolf Hitler had the atom bomb first but it was too primitive and ungainly for aerial deployment, says a new book that indicates the race to split the atom was much closer than is believed.
David Irving Comments:
Let us marvel once again at the ability of your average broadsheet journalist to write a story like this without once consulting the author who alone interviewed all the Nazi atomic scientists and nuclear physicists (and of course Reich armaments minister Albert Speer, without whom such a project would have been impossible) in writing his book The Virus House (The German Atomic Bomb, Simon & Schuster, New York, 1967): namely, myself.

Who Killed Rafik Hariri?
And why it matters
Justin Raimondo
The recent hate campaign against Syria is ratcheting up to a fever pitch, as exemplified by Rep. Sam Johnson (R-Texas), who told a convocation of veterans at the Suncreek United Methodist Church in Allen, Texas, of a conversation he had with our sainted chief executive in which he, Johnson, explained to the prez that those infamous "weapons of mass destruction" Saddam supposedly had were being hidden in Syria. Roll Call reports his remarks to the Texas crowd:
"'Syria is the problem. Syria is where those weapons of mass destruction are, in my view. You know, I can fly an F-15, put two nukes on 'em, and I'll make one pass. We won't have to worry about Syria anymore.'
"The crowd roared with applause."
From "nuke Saddam" to "nuke Bashar" the War Party's slogans allow for variation only when it comes to the choice of victims. In each case, the prelude to hostilities is marked by a barrage of war cries mixed with lies and in the case of Syria, the lies are even more brazen than usual.
Putting Israel First
Justin Raimondo: My friend Arthur Silber points me toward the ravings of one Kay, a popular "Christian Zionist" author and minister, at the convention of the National Religious Broadcasters:
"Perhaps the most startling moment of the morning was an appearance by popular Christian Zionist author, Kay Arthur of Precepts Ministries. 'I love America,' Arthur said, her voice quivering with emotion. 'But if it came to a choice between Israel and America, I would stand with Israel.' While the crowd applauded tepidly, I looked around and saw more than a few faces cringing with embarrassment. Arthur went on to read excerpts from the Book of Revelations, painting a surreal image of Jesus seated in a throne floating above Jerusalem, rapturing all the world’s true believers up to Heaven. She left the fate of unreconstructed Jews to the imagination."

Dr. Robert Faurisson on the Character of Ernst Zündel
This is what so soundly struck Zündel. This is what he, ever since, has wanted to bring to the eyes of the world. It is this staggering discovery of colossal deceit that has led him to fight as he has done and as he will do till his dying breath. It is for this, and solely for this, that he is now being killed by inches.

Historian Claims Nazis did Nuclear Tests
BERLIN — Nazi Germany was not only trying to develop nuclear weapons but actually tested atomic devices near the end of World War II, the publisher of a yet-to-be-released book by a German historian says.
The pre-publication claims by historian Rainer Karlsch drew headlines in German newspapers on Friday, but the publisher of “Hitlers Bombe” (“Hitler’s Bomb”) declined to give details or answer further questions until the book is launched on March 14.
Other historians played down any suggestion the Nazis were anywhere close to taking on the United States in a nuclear war.

More on Ernst Zundel from The Independent
...Mr Zündel made no comment as the charges were read out in closed court. He will remain in custody until his trial this year, a court spokesman said. The "white supremacist," a friend of the British historian and "Holocaust denier" David Irving who is banned from entering Germany, emigrated to Canada in 1958...

Comments from David Irving:
This article is a schoolroom example of journalistic spite without factual analysis. ...My friend Ernst Zündel has borne the extraordinary stings inflicted on him by these puny enemies with great and marvellous fortitude. Only yesterday I found a two-page pencilled letter from him a blunt pencil was all he that he was allowed in his Canadian prison cell waiting amongst the months-old mail that has finally caught up with me on my journey across the USA... "A friend of the British historian David Irving." Yes, I have many friends who hold to views which do not conform, and I am proud to call this brave man one of them.

Germans Rally in Mannheim for Zundel's Freedom
To protest the detention of Ernst Zundel in Germany, some 40-50 activists of the "Rhein-Neckar National Resistance Action Center" rallied on Wednesday, March 2, in the pedestrian shopping zone in central Mannheim. They distributed leaflets demanding freedom for Zundel and all other political prisoners, and the abolition of the laws that ban "Holocaust denial" and restrict free speech. The National Resistance Action Center pledges further actions for Zundel's freedom.

London Mayor Brands Sharon a War Criminal
The dispute between London Mayor Ken Livingstone and Britain's Jewish leaders was reignited Thursday night when Livingstone branded Prime Minister Ariel Sharon a war criminal, the Independent reported on Friday.

Israel: Iran the Next Nuclear Threat
Israeli President Moshe Katsav believes Iran may have nuclear weapons by 2007 and threaten not only Israel's existence but also provide the world with its most deadly challenge.
Mr Katsav said in Melbourne yesterday Iran was following North Korea in calling the world's bluff on a nuclear program while buying time to develop atomic weapons.
"They are on the way to achieving nuclear technology. I cannot put my finger on 2007, it could be a year here or a year later but we are almost at the last moment," Mr Katsav told the Herald Sun.

Iran: Attack by West Risks All 'Middle East Oil'
"An attack on Iran will be tantamount to endangering Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and in a word the entire Middle East oil," Iranian Expediency Council secretary Mohsen Rezai said on Tuesday.
About 40 percent of the world's crude oil shipments passes through the two-mile wide channel of the strategic Straits of Hormuz. Iranian forces are deployed at the head of the channel. Oman and the United Arab Emirates are located on the other side.
Teheran could easily block the Straits of Hormuz and use its missiles to strike tankers and GCC oil facilities, according to the new edition of Geostrategy-Direct.com. Within weeks, the rest of the world would be starving for oil and the global economy could be in danger.

More Discussion About Zundel on Michael Coren Show
(.wmv format, from March 2, 2005)
One of the show's guests, Canadian talk show host Andrew Krystal, again defends Ernst Zundel's right to a fair trial:
"First of all, for some Jewish groups to think that the Jewish community in North America is vulnerable and fragile -- it's not. It's very strong, arguably the most successful [and powerful] ethnic group in North America.
"Secondly, Zundel is not a national security threat and to abuse Canadian laws because you don't like someone is fundamentally wrong."

Germany Charges Zundel with "Hate Crimes"
Frankfurt
A German judge ordered Ernst Zundel held in jail after arraigning him Wednesday on charges of "denying the Holocaust" and "inciting hatred."
Mr. Zundel, who was deported from Canada on Tuesday, made no statement at the closed arraignment in the southwestern city of Mannheim, court spokesman Ulrich Krehbiel said.
German prosecutors accuse Zundel of decades of "anti-Semitic" activities, including repeated denials of the "Holocaust" a crime in Germany.
Statement from Paul Fromm
...Family members and lawyers are normally advised of the flight and time of a deportation. Once again, the Ottawa tyranny’s laughable obsession with “national security” intervened. What real national security concern was there? Did they really think Peter Lindsay would go berserk in the airport lounge and start beating passengers senseless with his briefcase? No, “security” had nothing to do with it, only the convenience of the human rights abusers who wouldn’t want witnesses or photographs of a political prisoner being loaded on to a plane.

Zundel in German Hands after Expulsion from Canada
"This is coming at a very volatile time," said Paul Fromm. "There's a lot of discontent in Germany right now and he may well be a rallying point for... Germans who are sick and tired of hearing about the Holocaust and German guilt."
Zundel Deported, on Way to Germany
Ernst Zundel ended more than four controversial decades in Canada on Tuesday when he was escorted onto a plane bound for Germany, Immigration sources said.
From the Toronto AP
Prosecutors in the southwestern city of Mannheim issued a warrant for Zundel's arrest, the federal Justice Ministry told the AP on Monday.
Authorities were able to open the case because Zundel's website is available in Germany, so he is considered to be spreading his message to Germans as well, said a spokeswoman for the Mannheim prosecutor's office, speaking on customary condition of anonymity.
Zundel will be taken into custody when he returns to Germany while a judge reviews the case against him, the spokeswoman said.
