Building on a Year of Achievement

Dear friend,

In recent weeks we’ve been busier than usual — as you’ll read in the enclosed IHR Update newsletter. But we’re also hard-pressed for money right now, and we need your help.

We marked the second anniversary of the detention in solitary confinement of “thought criminal” Ernst Zundel with a spirited demonstration in downtown Los Angeles that defied thugs of the Jewish Defense League and generated unprecedented media attention for Zundel’s ordeal.

For two years, this German-born civil rights activist and publisher has been held in solitary confinement in a Canadian detention center, without bail, on the absurd pretext that he’s a threat to national security.

Working together with his wife, Ingrid Rimland, and others, we publicized and coordinated rallies for his freedom at Canadian diplomatic offices across the country. And at a special IHR meeting, she spoke movingly about her life and about the campaign for her husband’s freedom.

Thanks to the generous and loyal support of friends like you, we can look back on a productive year of solid achievement.

Highlights include the successful Sacramento conference in April, with memorable talks by outstanding speakers, our meeting in northern Virginia, which generated international media attention, and our meeting in southern California with best-selling historian David Irving.

We’ve kept up a vigorous media outreach, including numerous radio interviews that regularly reach many hundreds of thousands of listeners — on stations in the US and overseas, as well as through the internet.

Traffic on the IHR website — our most important way of reaching people — has more than tripled during the past year. Through the site’s “Audio Archives” section, many thousands have listened to our radio interviews, and to talks at IHR meetings and conferences.

Noontide Press, a business affiliate that distributes books from the IHR and other publishers, has launched a completely revamped website (www.noontidepress.com). It’s not only more attractive and easier to use, visitors can now securely purchase books and tapes on-line by credit card.

We’ve begun producing our own DVDs and CDs, as part of a long-term project to make IHR video and audio recordings as widely available as possible.

Our IHR News and Comment e-mail service continues to grow, with the number of subscribers increasing steadily. This free e-mail service regularly distributes selected news and commentary. (To subscribe, just drop a line to news@ihr.org)

Along with this letter, we’re sending you our new IHR leaflet, “Iraq: A War for Israel?” (The text is also posted on our website.) It’s already generated tremendous interest. For example, it was reprinted in Christian News, a nationally-circulated weekly.

No other center or institute of comparable size and purpose has anything like the impact of the Institute for Historical Review. Even our adversaries, such as the “Anti-Defamation League,” acknowledge that the IHR is the leading and most effective revisionist association.

Over the years, as part of our routine work of promoting, processing and shipping out educational materials, we’ve distributed many tens of thousands of books, leaflets, tapes and other items — a record unmatched by any similar center or association.

The IHR is the only history research and publishing center in America that boldly identifies and fights the distorters of history and the enemies of freedom and peace — educating the thoughtful public with solidly referenced books, articles, reviews and tapes. No comparable center speaks so factually and forthrightly about “the Holocaust,” the corrosive impact of “Holocaust” propaganda, World War II lies, the dangerous Jewish-Zionist grip on our cultural and political life, and much more.

Encouraged by what we’ve achieved during the past year, and determined to accomplish even more in the months ahead, we’re upbeat about the future.

Every day we receive letters and e-mail messages of appreciation from grateful men and woman who urge us to keep up the good work. But while it’s gratifying to know that we’re making a difference in people’s lives, words of support don’t pay bills or enable us to tackle new projects.

We urgently need your help to make the IHR even more influential and effective — by reaching many more people across America and around the world, by hiring new staff members — and much more.

I look forward to your generous response.

Sincerely,

P.S. Your tax-deductible donation to the IHR is a cost-effective weapon in the struggle for truth, freedom and peace. Our impact across the US and around the world is vastly out of proportion to our small staff and modest budget. Each dollar you donate to the IHR packs a real punch!
