Irving, Weber Address Successful IHR Meeting

An enthusiastic crowd packed a hotel meeting room in Costa Mesa, California, on Wednesday evening, December 10, to hear best-selling British historian David Irving and IHR director Mark Weber speak on the background and impact of the Iraq war. Some 70 men and women attended the special meeting, organized by the IHR in conjunction with Irving’s Focal Point Publications.

In his introduction, Weber said that Irving doesn’t just write about history, he makes history. Just a few weeks ago, Weber noted, some 2,000 people rallied in Budapest to protest the cancellation of a television show on Hungary’s state-owned public station after it hosted Irving. He had been visiting Hungary at the invitation of the Justice and Life Party in connection with the national holiday commemorating the anniversary of the 1956 revolution. Former Prime Minister Viktor Orban and the head of Hungarian state radio were among those who joined the rally.

During his talk, the British writer told about his cordial meetings with one-time CIA director William Casey, who expressed his admiration for Irving’s work.

Both Irving and Weber stressed that the US invasion of Iraq has fueled global distrust of America and hostility toward the United States.

In his address, Weber reviewed the now-discredited claims about a supposedly grave and imminent threat posed by Iraq to America and the world made by President Bush and his administration to justify the US invasion and occupation of the country. Jewish-Zionist plans to overthrow the Iraqi regime by force were already in place well before George W. Bush became president, Weber noted. In the Bush administration, a small but well-placed group of pro-war Zionist “neoconservatives” played a crucial role in prodding the US to attack Iraq. This war, Weber concluded, does not serve the interests of America or humanity, but instead is a war to further the interests of Israel and organized Jewry.

Sales of books and tapes were brisk, and Irving autographed copies of his books. Among the titles available were just-published copies of the Hungarian edition of Uprising!, his book about Hungary’s 1956 revolt against Soviet rule.

Freedom Forum Meeting

A week earlier, on Wednesday evening, Dec. 3, Mark Weber addressed a meeting of the Freedom Forum of Orange County in Garden Grove, California. His talk, entitled “Behind the Propaganda: The Real Reasons for War in Iraq,” was well received. IHR books and back issues of the IHR Journal were sold at a table manned by Institute staff members.

Radio Interviews

On Monday, December 8, Weber was once again a guest on the Jeff Rense radio show -- his fifth appearance this year on the popular program, which is heard across the USA on stations of the Talk Radio Network, and worldwide over the Internet through the Rense web site.

The IHR Director began the hour-long appearance with an update on the imprisonment in Canada of Ernst Zundel, the German-born civil rights activist and publicist who has been held since February as a political prisoner on the pretext that he is a threat to Canadian national security. Weber went on to focus on the decisive Jewish-Zionist role in pushing the United States into war in Iraq, and he stressed the dangers of Jewish-Zionist power for America and the world. Throughout the interview, host Jeff Rense was cordial and supportive.

Broadcasts of the Rense show are routinely archived, and can be heard online through the Rense web site. (This year Weber was a guest on Feb. 10 (with Ingrid Rimland), Feb. 27, May 19, Sept. 22, and Dec. 8.)
