Institute for Historical Review
As usual, we're swamped with work here and our financial situation remains very tight. Regrettably, we must still divert precious time and effort to fighting off the vicous propaganda campaign and intense legal assault of embezzler Willis Carto.
As a result, we're late (again) in getting this issue of the Journal to you. Please pardon the delay.
In addition to the normal work of the Institute, on October 21 we hosted a very successful special IHR meeting. From across southern California, and beyond, friends old and new came to meet and hear an exciting address by British historian David Irving. (A report will appear in the next Journal.) Following the meeting, we arranged with the best-selling author to serve as North American distributor of his backlist of books and videotapes.
We've also completed editing and production of videotape cassettes of the July 22 Weber-Shermer Holocaust debate. After viewing this two-hour clash between IHR Director Weber and Occidental College professor Michael Shermer, even the most skeptical cynic will understand why revisionists are making such progress around the world. For details on how you can have your own quality cassette recording of this breakthrough event, see the order form.
After considerable discussion, we've now scheduled the next full-scale IHR Conference for Labor Day weekend. We've already lined up several exciting speakers for the three-day event. Don't forget to mark your calendar: Saturday, August 31 through Monday, September 2, 1996. We'll keep you posted on details.
As part of our routine work here, nearly every day we respond to urgent requests for help from journalists, educators and researchers -- providing opinion leaders across across America and around the world with the "intellectual ammunition" they need to fight back against the international forces of bigotry.
Such work doesn't make headlines, but quietly, steadily it has a real impact. It's part of the reason that -- as even our enemies acknowledge -- the IHR is the most important center of its kind in the world. And we are winning.
In spite of the massive theft of IHR funds by former associates, and the effort involved in fighting off their relentless anti-IHR smear campaign, we've managed to keep the Institute on course. But just barely.
With expenses cut to the bone, we're only scraping by. We've had to put off major publishing projects and postpone other important plans.
For many years, your donations have meant the difference between life and death for the Institute. Now, under the current "siege" conditions, your help has never so critically important.
While we greatly appreciate your one-time donation, a regular pledge will sustain us throughout the year -- making it possible, for example, for us to complete vital but unavoidably neglected projects. Your pledge of just $20 a month, for example, really adds up. We urge you to join the dedicated fellowship of IHR pledge donors. Just mark the space on the enclosed form.
Whether a one-time donation or a monthly pledge, we ask for your generous contribution to help us carry forward the Institute's vital work. Remember: Every dollar you contribute really makes a difference -- for us and for the enemies of truth in history.
With best wishes for Christmas and the New Year!
Mark Weber Greg Raven
