Dear IHR Supporter,
As the world's foremost revisionist center, we constantly receive urgent requests for help.
By fax, phone, mail, and Internet, we reach many countries -- France, Germany, Ukraine, Australia, Switzerland and Turkey are just a few. We provide revisionists, both seasoned and budding, with the assistance and materials they need to fight lies and censorship around the world. Many of these pleas come from people who cannot afford to pay for help.
How can we say "No" to such brave individuals? We can't, and we don't. At least, not yet. We do what is necessary to support revisionists on the front lines around the globe -- supplying them with copies of critical documents, vital background information, Journal articles, and letters of advice and encouragement.
But this means we must turn to generous supporters like you for help to carry on the struggle!
In the accompanying March-April Journal, you'll read the amazing story of the Holocaust Lobby's success in shutting down a major Japanese magazine that dared to print suppressed facts about the Holocaust story.
Many open-minded Japanese are appalled by the drastic act of censorship brought on by the headline-making Marco Polo article. Japanese journalists, teachers and scholars want to know just why the Wiesenthal Center and other Holocaust groups are so alarmed over a single article that challenges their interests. They want to know why Rabbi Cooper is so afraid to discuss this issue in a free and open forum.
As a result, we've been beset with requests from Japan for more information about historical revisionism, the IHR and its work.
This is a wonderful opportunity to educate many influential people in the world's second-most important economic power, and we can't ignore it.
In spite of the Holocaust Lobby's brutal campaign, the Marco Polo affair is a major victory for the cause of openness and truth in history. And you can be proud of our Institute's role in all this. But as you read about it, consider the many work-hours and extra postage and fax expenses this single challenge -- just one of so many -- has meant for us.
Your help is all the more crucial because, while historical awareness is growing and our workload is increasing, our staff is not. We already work 14-hour days, including weekends, and we've been cutting expenses everywhere. We're strained to the limit.
We're even more hard-pressed now because an important member of the IHR team has left. After 14 years of service here, J. Marcellus has resigned to accept other, more lucrative career opportunities. For several years he has wanted to leave, but he chose to stay on to see the Institute through recent rough times, turning down attractive job offers. You'll read more about Tom's resignation in the next IHR Update, but the important thing for now is that he's still helping out, and remains on call to provide advice and other assistance.
As good as it is to have Tom's help, frankly we need a lot more support from a lot of people. In this regard, we have some great news to report.
Some of you have written to tell us that you could make more generous donations if you could deduct it from your taxable income. Now the IHR now has a special not-for-profit, tax-deductable 501(c)3 account, through which you can make donations to our cause and take a tax deduction (as allowable under the law).
Your tax dollars, instead of going to support operations such as the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, can now support the work of the IHR.
And believe us, we really need your help! By mailing a generous donation to our new tax deductible account, you will help us keep revisionism "job one" here at the IHR and around the world!
Our new charitable entity will help fund our educational and outreach activities, such as the demanding -- and expensive -- work relating to the recent Marco Polo furor.
That's why we are asking your help. We truly need the most generous donation you can afford to give. And we do need it now. It doesn't matter if your most generous donation is a humble one. Every little bit helps.
Won't you please send a donation in the enclosed envelope? If you want it to be tax deductible, please make your check payable to "IHR."
Thank you for your steadfast loyalty and support of the cause of truth in history.
Mark Weber Greg Raven
P.S. Please don't forget to mail your donation today.
P.P.S. If you would like to discuss an especially sizeable donation or bequest, please feel free to call between the hours of noon and 5 p.m., Pacific time.
