The Bombingest Place on Earth
What Disney’s 60-year-old propaganda cartoons can teach us about war
by Gustavo Arellano
It remains one of my favorite college lectures: during a film-history course at Orange Coast College during the late 1990s, professor Steven Valley shared his Kafka-esque ordeal in trying to view propaganda films the Walt Disney Studios produced during World War II. Phone calls to various Disney historians went unanswered, Valley recounted; written requests never reached their destination; visits by Valley to Disney’s Burbank archives resulted in trips from one office to another, all to no avail. After months of fruitless inquiry, Disney brass finally relented. They shoved Valley into an unlit basement room, carted in a TV/VCR set, popped in a videocassette containing the desired cartoons, and left him for about three hours. No notes were allowed. No recorders. No questions. Upon the tape’s completion, security guards escorted Valley out and told him never to ask for a second screening since it wouldn’t happen.

ROME, JUNE 11, 2004 (Zenit.org).- The Holy See was farsighted in understanding the dangers inherent in Nazism long before World War II, says a new book.
The book, "Hitler, la Santa Sede e gli Ebrei" (Hitler, the Holy See, and the Jews), Jaca Book publishers, is written by Father Giovanni Sale. In it, the Gregorian University professor analyzes the relations between the Third Reich and the Vatican during 1933-1945.

Licking Hitler

A new exhibition at Bletchley Park – the Second World War intelligence centre where the German Enigma code was cracked – was opening to the public today.
Bletchley Park was the centre of wartime intelligence and was also known as Station X.
Calling themselves “Captain Ridley’s Shooting Party”, a team of scholars arrived there in the summer of 1939.
Their initial aim was to crack the Enigma code, which was used for German military and intelligence communications.
But they also deciphered the Lorenz code, used by Hitler to communicate with his generals, admirals and air marshals about troop movements

The Same Old Failed Policies in Iraq
Mr. Speaker, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Our allegiances to our allies and friends change constantly. For a decade, exiled Iraqi Ahmed Chalabi was our chosen leader-to-be in a new Iraq. Championed by Pentagon neocons and objected to by the State Department, Mr. Chalabi received more than 100 million U.S. taxpayer dollars as our man designated to be leader of a new Iraqi government.

Carlo Mattogno: Belzec in Propaganda, Testimonies, Archeological Research, and History
Witnesses report that at least 600,000, if not as many as three million people primarily of Jewish faith were murdered in the Belzec camp, located in eastern Poland, between November 1941 and December 1942. Various murder weapons are claimed to have been used: diesel gas chambers; unslaked lime in trains; high voltage; vacuum chambers. According to witnesses, the corpses were finally incinerated on huge pyres without leaving any traces.

Trench Runs Through It
By WALTER REICH
After my uncles, aunts, cousins and, probably, grandmother were gassed in 1942 in Belzec, a German death camp in Poland, their remains were dumped into mass graves there, together with those of at least 500,000 other Jews. That small site, about 15 acres, is one of the most concentrated zones of death in the world.
In the past 15 years I've gone to Belzec five times to visit those remains and say Kaddish for the dead. Now a trench, about 30 feet deep and open at both ends, has been dug into the ground between the mass graves. Stretching through the heart of the camp, it's the central element of a memorial that was unveiled last week.
